Swell Network Launches Testnet on Görli Network

Swell Network is live on Görli

Swell Network DAO is pleased to publicly announce the launch of Swell V2 Testnet on the Görli Network. This marks a critical milestone in the development of Swell’s next-generation ETH liquid staking design.

Swell empowers users to stake ETH and earn rewards whilst unlocking additional yield throughout the DeFi ecosystem. Stakers benefit from a fully transparent and non-custodial approach that leverages several innovations pioneered by the DAO including the atomic transaction, staking NFTs, and soon to be released in-app vaults.

The protocol also enables a fully permissionless node running experience, leveraging both Verified and Unverified sets of Operators, which stakers can choose from.

Actioning Swell Community Feedback

The Testnet environment will enable robust, resilient, and reliable functioning of the protocol prior to planned mainnet launch in the coming weeks. Off the back of multiple smart contract audits from firms such as Runtime Verification, Peckshield, Slowmist, and others - the DAO is interested in thoroughly continuing its ongoing testing of Swell V2 together with its growing community of Swellers, which represent the full diversity of the Ethereum staking ecosystem.

Swell is actively seeking participation to ensure sufficient coverage across a variety of conditions. The Testnet is also an opportunity for the community to provide invaluable protocol feedback.

Testnet Objectives

The objectives of the Testnet include:

  • Actioning valuable feedback from a diverse set of users, spanning both the staker and node operator perspectives.
  • Inform forward planning with regard to formal establishment of the inaugural Verified Operator list, which will function alongside the existing permissionless onboarding experience for Swell Network Unverified Operators.
  • Providing an opportunity for all Swell Node Operators to demonstrate their expertise in running Ethereum validators.
  • Developing the foundations for more structured DAO governance on critical issues such as node operations, which will soon be supported through the  SWELL governance token.
  • Giving the community a clear voice in the overall staking and node-running experience of the protocol.

Important Note for Prospective Verified Operators

Swell Network will also soon be announcing further detail regarding the DAO’s plans to finalize an inaugural cohort of a selected number of Verified Operators. Additional information regarding the overall process, including evaluation, governance, and value, will be provided shortly through regular Swell channels in the coming days.

At a minimum, Node Operators who are seeking admission into the inaugural cohort will be required to actively participate in the Testnet, including running validators on Swell Network’s Görli environment.
